Driving Question: How have companies in NC have impacted our state, country, and the world markets?
Content: - Social Studies 4.e.1.4 analyze historical and contemporary role that major North Carolina industries have played in the state, nation, and world.
- Reading Standards for Informational Text Craft and Structure 4. Determine the meaning of general academic and domain-specific words or phrasesin a text relevant to a grade 4 topic or subject area. 5. Describethe overall structure (e.g., chronology, comparison, cause/effect, problem/solution) of events, ideas, concepts, or information in a text or part of a text.
- Math 4.NBT.2 Read and write multi-digit whole numbers using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.
Major Student Product:
-Live newscast ("in depth report" on _ industry/company looking at its impact on nc/us/world)
Involving a Public Audience:
-Present newscasts to local news reporters during middle of process- ask for suggestions on public speaking, eye contact, reading fluently, length/flow of news report, practice runs of presentations
-Record newscasts for insertion (over a number of weeks/days) into daily morning school news program viewed by entire school
